Washcloth
Foundation Row Make a 44 [48,52] st fsc, leaving a minimum of a 14″ tail for seaming.
Row 1 Ch 1, turn, sc in ea st across.
Row 2

Ch 1, turn, sl st in first st, *hdc in next st, sl st in next st,* rep from * to * across ending with a hdc.

Row 3 Ch 1, turn, sl st in first hdc, *hdc in next sl st, sl st in next hdc,* rep from * to * across ending with a hdc.
Rows 4-32 (34,36) Rep row 2. At end of last row, join to first st of row with a sl st.
Row 33 (35,37) Ch 1, turn, sc in first st, pm, sc in ea st across. Do not join with a sl st as rest of piece is worked in the round. From this point on, don’t worry about the stitch count.
Row 34 (36,38) Sc in marked st, move marker up as you go, sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog, *sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog,* rep from * to * around. If you go past the marker with the last sc2tog, don’t worry about it, just move the marker up to mark the sc2tog as the first st.
Row 35 (37,39) Sc in each st around.
Row 36 (38,40) Sc in marked st, sc in next 3 sc, sc2tog, *sc in next 4 sc, sc2tog,* rep from * to * around.
Row 37 (39,41) Sc in each st around.
Row 38 (40,42) Sc in marked st, sc in next 4 sc, sc2 tog, *sc in next 5 sc, sc2tog,* rep from * to * around.
Rows 39-40 (41-42,43-44) Sc in each st around.
Row 41 (43,45) Sc in marked st, sc in next sc, sc2tog, *sc in next 2 sc, sc2tog,* rep from * to * around.
Row 42 (44,46) Sc in ea st around.
Row 43 (45, 47) Rep row 41 (43,45). Count remaining sts. If only 4-5 remain, fasten off and skip to Finishing section. Otherwise, continue.
Rep row 42 (44,46) and row 43 (45,47) until only 4-5 sts remain. Fasten off

Finishing …

Turn mitt inside out and thread tail from top of mitt on yarn needle. Weave yarn into the sts at the top a couple of times around then pull tight to close the hole.

Fold mitt so the open sides are lined up. Use the beginning tail and yarn needle and whip stitch the seam together.

Weave in ends. Turn mitt right side out.
